PAINT FEST AT HELP BRISTOL'S HOMELESS – SUN, SPRAY & SOMETHING REAL

Paint Fest hit different. Smoke curling from a street BBQ, reggae pulsing from the speakers, and artists spraying live on scaffolds under the Bristol sun. It had street party vibes — a mashup of art, hunger, purpose, and noise. Every corner breathed defiance. This wasn’t just for show — this was for something real.

We turned up expecting good vibes, but not the personal connection. Bumped into our mate Stephen, didn’t even know he worked here. Got coffee in the café and watched the murals go up. Some of the artists sprayed straight through the afternoon, others had rocked up early, put in a shift and clocked out. Sun blazing, paint cans hissing, people moving with purpose.

This was all in support of Help Bristol’s Homeless — a grassroots charity turning disused shipping containers into real homes. Their ethos hits like truth: a hand up, not a hand out. That resonates with us. Like Haunt, they believe in resilience, not sympathy. Action, not pity.

These murals aren’t vanity. They’re landmarks — visual proof something good is happening here. Artists like Inkie and Joe Greenaway were putting down paint, not ego.

Founded by Jasper Thompson in 2017, they repurpose shipping containers into livable spaces — not temporary shelters, but stepping stones. On-site, they’ve got support services for health, employment, and recovery. It’s solid ground for people who need a restart.

We even got our own piece of the moment. Snapped Anna repping Haunt in the wild.

If you’ve ever wondered where your support should go — Help Bristol’s Homeless is doing real work. You can also find them on Instagram at @helpbristolshomeless.

What Help Bristol’s Homeless is doing hits close to home. I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t found somewhere like it — not just Haunt, I mean me. A place to land when everything’s burnt down can be the difference between life and death. This kind of support doesn’t just keep people off the street. It gives them a shot to breathe, to fight, to build. Haunt came out of that second chance.
